Robert Buelteman ran 80,000 volts of electricity through various plants, creating these awesome photos! With so much energy passing through the plant, the air surrounding it ionizes, leaving a peculiar blue haze.

thanks for missing the point. Drunk bros and fratty idiots infest the scene with no love of the music, just there for drugs and pussy. Diluting the culture. so uhh gtfo. lmao @ skinhead

Judging people on their appearance by looking at pictures of them, I’ve taken 70,000 rave pictures over 13 years and I assure you, you know nothing about the strangers you are looking at. The party happened because everyone who attended contributed themselves. Think about the movie American Beauty, right now you’re the homophobic father who cannot allow anything different or change in his world. Good job.

Hmm let me look at some obvious bro, wearing stereotypical frat gear guzzling down some beer (or being obvious about doing mad drugs) creeping on some girls. Let me see that every event and then not pigeonhole these fratstars. Because, yknow since I was in a frat and all I know that yes, they do all act the same. Parties happened because promotion/music quality/location/price was good and also because of the vibes of partygoers. And yes, I’m doing a fucking great job, thanks for pointing that out by comparing me to a homophobic father and a skinhead. lols

I’m only judging you on your statements, I haven’t looked at who you are and thanks for upping the ante on what you have written. In the end, none of us are the flying spaghetti monster. Even as a promoter, where you have the power to deny these people entry, every person counts towards paying your investors or eating noodles for months so besides the whole, raves are where I discovered humanity because everyone was welcome angle, just step back and remember everyone starts somewhere.

There was this guy I would know 3 years into partying who went to one of the first raves I went to. Dressed in kandie, giving out hugs everywhere, he told me he went to that rave as a hardcore gangbanger and emerged a kandikid.

If you were in a frat, surely you can allow others a chance and even if they’re just there to take advantage of a party situation at least 1) they know what a party is and 2) somebody is screaming and hollering and contributing to ambiance.

That would just be better than complaining/judging/im not sure anymore what you were doing, other than spreading negativity.

I can and do give people chances, but I see the same kinds of bros with the same “non plur” vibes fighting and getting kicked out and doing dumb shit every single week.  Not the same individuals but the same general sort of people. If your friend became a kandikid that quickly good for him, but that doesn’t happen as often right now, when it’s just another mainstread fad for people to follow. They *don’t* care about anything besides doing something because it’s cool. And you can contribute to parties negatively and positively, there’s no reason to say they aren’t fucking tools that shouldn’t have been there in the first place. And I have been talking specifically about fratstars this entire time btw, not talking about whatever other kind of kids are hopping on bandwagons.

I can agree with that. What got me was that I’m using the data from 350k rave pictures and not once have I thought that some person did not belong there. That was the party, that’s how it happened, that’s in the past. I mean I’d expect xenophobia style culture phobia in other events, but raves simply do not have entry controls and are in much of a way a live social experiment. Its sad in the first place that youth split into homogenous groups and forget their common origins, yet that there is a place where people can get along and be together regardless of how they look or what they look like is a beautiful construct in existence. Looking from outside in, this is undeniable. Looking from inside out, I can see how anyone would prefer the bothersome/scary/simply and honestly unwanted types would be better staying home and this is still the beauty of raves. Throw your own, make it secret, invite only the people you want. The history of demography through throwing your own parties depends on your locality and what kind of opposition you face, but generally there is always an underground. Maybe that’s what you seek. I honestly hope I get you riled up enough you throw the perfect party, but I’m really doing it in a sly, friendly way. Think Hunter S. Thompson when he wrote “You killed Jesus!”

By the way that kid wasn’t really my friend, I’m a social surfer. I go to events because I meet people and they are fascinating and interesting. Every story is different even if several are similar.

Raves are events and open to anyone, they are not private clubs with a barrier for entry and are exactly the opposite. Raves early on in AZ were held in a place that also hosted goth industrial and hardcore punk shows in the same building and allowed the groups to mingle. In each direction, you could see culture teaching.

Dont make kandiekids sound like skin heads.

For a while I wanted to be a wandering shaman, giving wow experiences to those I came across, bridging a gap in modern culture without a need for a message giver or healer.

Dead at 61, Sally Ride

The truth is, what humans go to can barely be called space. The physics, energy, and danger is high for all. I respect any innovators, those who break abstract structures and dedicate themselves to achieve.
