Rocketraid WebGUI Hack on OS X - Disable All Features

Latewire.com - Sat, 08/25/2012 - 19:37
So my Highpoint Rocketraid 2314 has been inexplicably been supported since I bought it in 2009. I am not a huge fan of the card but it does have fantastic error reporting (emails you when there's an error). Unfortunately, recently I started experiencing problems with Readahead, Write Cache, and NCQ. These are common problems with sata controllers, but luckily I can just go into the Webgui and disable them.Unfortunately for me once again, I have 10 hard drives hooked up to my little card and the settings to turn all that crap off reset every time I restart my computer!Since the WebGUI is ...

Agalloch, Taurus, Rituals @ Rhythm Room Phoenix - review

Latewire.com - Thu, 08/16/2012 - 06:09
Agalloch brings the weight of darkness to the Rhythm Room----------------------------------------------------------------------So yeah. This show was mind-altering. Rituals, the local Pho band that opened, was boggling great once again. I've said it before, but I'm telling you : if you like epic doom, you have just got to listen to these cats. Their instrumental melodies and dread-inducing rhythms create a chokingly thick atmosphere. Rituals is carrying the torch for doom metal in Phoenix and they are going to be a household name in the near future (assuming yours is the type of household that ...

Their instrumental melodies and dread-inducing rhythms create a chokingly thick atmosphere. Taurus was pretty fantastic. Stevie Floyd is a genius, and it was very cool to hear her do some clean singing -- she's got a really nice voice! This band is *totally* different than Dark Castle -- whereas D.C. is more like midtempo math-doom, Taurus is ambient atmospheric music, not ...

Skrillex and Boys Noize unite to form Dogblood? Two-track EP on the way

Dancemusicblog.com - Wed, 08/08/2012 - 18:53

Two artists who remain in the spotlight, both representing different subgenres, may be joining forces to form electronic music’s biggest side project. We are talking about dubstep poster boy Skrillex, who can’t seem to stay out of the headlines, and acid house maestro Boys Noize, who has recently announced his upcoming album.

The reported super-producer tag-team will be dubbed Dogblood, and will be experimenting with genres for a sound that has been referred to as ’300% break-acid-tech-noise.’ The first release from Dogblood will be an EP with the tracks “Middle Finger” and “Next Order,” set to drop on both Boys Noize Records and OWSLA this month. Sure to be something special, let us know what you think about two of electronic music’s power players uniting for Dogblood.

Knife Party premieres ‘Centipede’ music video, makes us cringe

Dancemusicblog.com - Wed, 08/08/2012 - 18:04

“Centipede” is probably the least played track from Knife Party’s Rage Valley EP but the song is so visual, it allows us to picture these creatures crawling around. In their first music video ever, the mood is set in a creepy 1930′s house infested with centipedes. Using a flamethrower and ax the man goes on a rampage trying to rid the house and save his lover from the bugs, but ultimately does more harm then good. The music fits perfectly with the video we can’t help but shudder at the site of a man turning into a centipede.

David Guetta feat Sia – She Wolf (Falling To Pieces) (Extended Mix + Michael Calfan Remix)

Dancemusicblog.com - Wed, 08/08/2012 - 15:21

David Guetta has once again teamed up with vocalist Sia, following their monster hits “Wild One Two” and “Titanium” with the brand new “She Wolf.” Guetta’s production comes in edgier form than usual, but our ears are set on the Michael Calfan remix. Calfan replicates his groove from “Resurrection” and injects a thumping bass line to transform a radio record into a dance tune. Calfan’s remix is available along with the original and a remix from Sandro Silva on Beatport via What A Music.

Porter Robinson announces ‘Poseidon: The Back to Back Tour’ with Zedd

Dancemusicblog.com - Tue, 08/07/2012 - 20:35

Get More: Music News

In an interview with MTV News, Porter Robinson announced that he and Zedd are going on tour together. The official title is the “Porter Robinson and Zedd present Poseidon: The Back to Back Tour,” and its meaning is twofold. ”Poseidon” represents the name of the song they’re working on together and “back to back” is intended to clarify that the DJ’s are working together — rather than one acting as opener for the other. Although nothing is set in stone yet, — including tour dates — Robinson’s vision for the tour is “something purely for the fans.” We’re anxious to see how the tour comes to fruition.

As an added bonus he also gives us an idea of what to expect from their musical collaboration. Robinson describes it as “pretty” and something he imagines people will “sing along to.” Both Robinson and Zedd are mega talented so like the tour, we’re anxious to hear the song.

The last-ever Abigail Williams show, Sovereign, goths

Latewire.com - Tue, 07/31/2012 - 07:57
Just got back from the last-ever Abigail Williams show. Bittersweet -- a moving and deep performance by this brilliant atmospheric blackish metal band, sad to see them hang it up. There are only a handful of metal bands that can really transport you to damp scary places with their music, and Abigail Williams is one of them. The bassist they had filling in on this tour was most excellent -- huge tone and a fine showman. Ken Sorceron rasped his heart out and got phantasmic tones out of his guitar. The drummer pounded with lethal precision and sounded gigantic with his well-tuned tom-toms. All ...

Nocturnal Wonderland releases its lineup, showcasing a ton of talent, old and new

Dancemusicblog.com - Fri, 07/27/2012 - 00:35

Insomniac’s Pasquale Rotella just tweeted out the line-up for September’s Nocturnal Wonderland. Featuring an eclectic mix of heavy dubstep, euphoric trance, big room house and everything in between — this year’s Nocturnal Wonderland is not one you’ll want to miss.

Pasquale has always been extremely vocal about putting the music first and the line-up here reflects that; From 12th Planet to John Digweed, Pretty Lights to Danny Tenaglia, Cosmic Gate to Royksopp, it’s abundantly clear that the bookings were done with the music in mind.

Grab your tickets now via the Nocturnal Wonderland website.

Russ Chimes – Back 2 You (Original Mix)

Dancemusicblog.com - Thu, 07/26/2012 - 20:56

Featured on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 back in May, “Back 2 You” has been floating around the ether of the internet for months as a radio rip, teasing us with it’s punchy bass and nu-disco atmosphere. In his usual fashion, Russ drops a pulsating deep house bass line amidst a floaty disco groove, merging the two together in an artfully subtle way. The intricately crafted synthwork, vocal samples and bouncy percussion work perfectly together to create a track that’s impossible not to enjoy.

Go ahead and delete those ill-begotten radio rips, we will finally see an official Beatport release on July 30th.

datssoravin:

thanks for missing the point. Drunk bros and fratty idiots infest the scene with no love of the music, just there for drugs and pussy. Diluting the culture. so uhh gtfo. lmao @ skinhead

Judging people on their appearance by looking at pictures of them, I’ve taken 70,000 rave pictures over 13 years and I assure you, you know nothing about the strangers you are looking at. The party happened because everyone who attended contributed themselves. Think about the movie American Beauty, right now you’re the homophobic father who cannot allow anything different or change in his world. Good job.

Hmm let me look at some obvious bro, wearing stereotypical frat gear guzzling down some beer (or being obvious about doing mad drugs) creeping on some girls. Let me see that every event and then not pigeonhole these fratstars. Because, yknow since I was in a frat and all I know that yes, they do all act the same. Parties happened because promotion/music quality/location/price was good and also because of the vibes of partygoers. And yes, I’m doing a fucking great job, thanks for pointing that out by comparing me to a homophobic father and a skinhead. lols

I’m only judging you on your statements, I haven’t looked at who you are and thanks for upping the ante on what you have written. In the end, none of us are the flying spaghetti monster. Even as a promoter, where you have the power to deny these people entry, every person counts towards paying your investors or eating noodles for months so besides the whole, raves are where I discovered humanity because everyone was welcome angle, just step back and remember everyone starts somewhere.

There was this guy I would know 3 years into partying who went to one of the first raves I went to. Dressed in kandie, giving out hugs everywhere, he told me he went to that rave as a hardcore gangbanger and emerged a kandikid.

If you were in a frat, surely you can allow others a chance and even if they’re just there to take advantage of a party situation at least 1) they know what a party is and 2) somebody is screaming and hollering and contributing to ambiance.

That would just be better than complaining/judging/im not sure anymore what you were doing, other than spreading negativity.

I can and do give people chances, but I see the same kinds of bros with the same “non plur” vibes fighting and getting kicked out and doing dumb shit every single week.  Not the same individuals but the same general sort of people. If your friend became a kandikid that quickly good for him, but that doesn’t happen as often right now, when it’s just another mainstread fad for people to follow. They *don’t* care about anything besides doing something because it’s cool. And you can contribute to parties negatively and positively, there’s no reason to say they aren’t fucking tools that shouldn’t have been there in the first place. And I have been talking specifically about fratstars this entire time btw, not talking about whatever other kind of kids are hopping on bandwagons.

I can agree with that. What got me was that I’m using the data from 350k rave pictures and not once have I thought that some person did not belong there. That was the party, that’s how it happened, that’s in the past. I mean I’d expect xenophobia style culture phobia in other events, but raves simply do not have entry controls and are in much of a way a live social experiment. Its sad in the first place that youth split into homogenous groups and forget their common origins, yet that there is a place where people can get along and be together regardless of how they look or what they look like is a beautiful construct in existence. Looking from outside in, this is undeniable. Looking from inside out, I can see how anyone would prefer the bothersome/scary/simply and honestly unwanted types would be better staying home and this is still the beauty of raves. Throw your own, make it secret, invite only the people you want. The history of demography through throwing your own parties depends on your locality and what kind of opposition you face, but generally there is always an underground. Maybe that’s what you seek. I honestly hope I get you riled up enough you throw the perfect party, but I’m really doing it in a sly, friendly way. Think Hunter S. Thompson when he wrote “You killed Jesus!”

By the way that kid wasn’t really my friend, I’m a social surfer. I go to events because I meet people and they are fascinating and interesting. Every story is different even if several are similar.
